Competitors come and go, but Scuderia Ferrari still sets the standard for greatness in Formula One. Since the first Formula One race took place in 1951, Scuderia Ferrari is the only team to have always competed in the world championship.
And Ferrari's "Rosso Corsa" remains the defining colour in Formula One! A red sea of fans with their flags, lining the racing tracks, emphasised the passion for Ferrari. This calendar provides all Ferrari Formula 1 fans with a thrilling and unfiltered proximity to the world champion team.

Official 2019 Ferrari Calendars & App: Scuderia Ferrari & Ferrari Myth

Ferrari and Formula 1, few terms are linked more than the famous Scuderia and the top category of open wheel racing. Although now waiting for more than a decade to bring back a title to Maranello the Scuderia Ferrari is still the most successful team in the History of F1 and Ferrari is the only team to run every season since the series was introduced in 1950. Being the team principle of the Scuderia Ferrari that ran the works entries for Alfa Romeo in the 1930s Enzo Ferrari early on saw the importance of the GP series aside the sports car world championship to position his marque as the leading sport car manufacturer that it should become over the next decades.

It is intended both as a celebration and a mark of gratitude to the most successful Prancing Horse driver ever. Between 1996 and 2006 the German champion won five consecutive Drivers’ titles, from 2000 to 2004, and made a major contribution to the Scuderia’s haul of six Manufacturers’ titles over those years.

An extremely rare 1987 Ferrari F40 LM leads the Italian marque entries. Upon entering production, the Ferrari F40 was already the fastest road car of its time, but the ‘Le Mans’ version took the model to new extremes – affording the car more aggressive bodywork, more extreme front and rear wings, larger disc brakes and calipers, revised suspension, a race-spec gearbox and a stripped-out interior with a futuristic digital dashboard. Chassis no. 74045 was originally used as a prototype car while the F40 was designed.

This remarkable Formula 1 racing car is particularly iconic to any motorsport enthusiast as it boasts an impressive pedigree.
The Brabham-Cosworth BT26A chassis #3 is the car in which Jacky Ickx contested no fewer than a dozen races during that 1969 season, nine of them fully-fledged frontline qualifying rounds of that year’s Formula 1 World Championship series. Of his nine topline races in chassis 3, the immensely capable young Belgian won the Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport Park, finished 2nd in that year’s Mexican GP at Mexico City, 3rd in the French GP, 5th in the Dutch GP and 6th in the Spanish GP.

Cavallino Classic 28 is on its way. After a private test day yesterday at the nearby Palm Beach International Raceway finally the visitors had the first chance to have a look at some Ferrari old and new at the track today. Although the track days are certainly not what they used to be back in the times of the Ferrari Challenge the driving part is getting less and less every year. For the first time the track did not see any racing action but purely some free track time for either GT cars on a free track or cruise groups behind a pace car.

Cavallino Classic 2019 ... The Track Day

Smaller but refined, this might be the motto for this year’s concours at the famous Breakers hotel. The main event of Cavallino Classic 28 was spoiled by rainy weather all day but the small but selected field of Ferrari Classic was still worth a visit. Smaller than in previous years especially the lower lawn featured less modern Ferrari as well as the 365 range was very thin but the upper lawn in front of the hotel was more than a compensation.

Rained out... this year's Cavallino Classic in Florid ended like they began on Thursday during the private track day at the Palm Beach International Raceway, with torrential rain. Whereas the Concours on Saturday at the lawn at the Breakers suffered from various showers this day at the Presidents Country Club, the famous Mar-a-Lago, saw nothing but rain during most of the day. After the wet days before the lawn was flooded in parts when the cars arrived in the morning and after a first try to reach their destination on the field the surface appeared too wet ...

Bonhams held its eighth sale at the magnificent Grand Palais. The marathon sale saw more than 140 cars crossing the rostrum over several hours and spirited bidding taking place beneath the cavernous glass domes of the Grand Palais. The top lot of the sale was the imposing and elegant 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet A, formerly owned by His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, former King of Jordan. It sold for €1,581,250 to a European bidder in the room.

The 1987 Ferrari F40 LM was the undoubted star lot of the sale and represented a very rare opportunity to acquire one of Maranello’s legendary sports racing cars of the modern era. The car offered is a unique piece of Ferrari history as it not only boasts a significant and successful competition history, but it also played an important development role as a pre-production prototype. As a result, pre-sale interest in the car was very strong and intense bidding in the room and over the phones saw the car achieve €4,842,500 to set a new world record for the model.

Creating an entirely new and modern take on the Ferrari sports prototype concept is both an ambitious and complex undertaking. But it was in this spirit, and with very specific input from the client, that the new Ferrari one-off, the P80/C, was conceived. The Ferrari Styling Centre, under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, and the engineering and aerodynamics team worked hand-in-glove with the client, sharing principles and visions in order to create a new “Hero Car” with an absolutely unique and authentic soul.

Goodwood certainly is one of the best known location for classic cars event over the last 25 years with the international acclaimed Revival and the Festival of Speed. The Techno Classica is Europeans largest Classic Car Trade Show and behind the Retromobile in Paris probably the most traditional. For 30 years now the TC attracts visitors from all over the world to Essen in April and the 31st edition was visited again by more than 190 thousand classic car enthusiasts. In Essen it is all about the numbers, bigger is better and for many years the limit seemed to be the trade centre in Essen that is much more dated than the new one of the competitor in Stuttgart.

When people talk about Ferrari and racing certainly most of them are thinking of Ferrari being the only team to compete in Formula 1 since the beginning in 1950. But back in the days the sports and GT cars of Ferrari were on top of the game and even more than in F1 the marque from Maranello dominated the international racing scene outside the open wheel racing. Today the GT cars from the 1960 like the 250 GT SWB or the GTO are icons and on top of the shopping list of the wealthy collectors.

It is that time of the year when the former Tour de France de Automobiles is held in France. Just a few days after the disastrous fire in Notre Dame almost 240 cars made their way to another landmark of the French capitol, the Grand Palais for the 28th edition of the French classic car rally. The majestic building with its steel and glass structured dome once again was the perfect ambience for the cars to be lined up.

Nick Mason once differed between car rallies one is gaining weight and those one is losing. The first ones are tours leading from one Michelin Star Restaurant to the other over picturesque roads with countless coffee stops. The later ones are more like the Tour Auto: about 14 hours of driving with a short buffet lunch stop, visit to the race track and driving special stages on unknown country roads preferable in the mountain. A quick dinner at the parc fermé at the destination of the day with short nights in hotel chains.

Niki Lauda (22.02.1949 – 20.05.2019)
The world of motorsport has lost one of its most revered characters with the passing of Niki Lauda. Although he came from a wealthy background, his family were totally against him becoming a racing driver, so he had to do it without any financial help from them, and took out personal loans to get on the ladder to F1. His big break came in 1973 when he was driving for BRM, a team then on a downward spiral, as his then team mate Clay Regazzoni was leaving to drive for Ferrari in 1974. Apparently Enzo Ferrari asked Regazzoni what he thought of Lauda’s driving abilities, and he was complimentary, thus he also signed to drive for Ferrari in the 1974 season, finishing 2nd in his first race for the team, and scoring his first Grand Prix win in Spain. Although he achieved six consecutive pole positions that year there was only one more win in the Dutch Grand Prix, mainly due to reliability problems.

Ferrari introduces a new chapter in its history with the introduction of its first series production PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), the SF90 Stradale, images, videos and information on which can be seen on the dedicated web site: SF90stradale.com. The new model is extreme on every level and represents a true paradigm shift, because it delivers unprecedented performance for a production car. Figures such as 1,000 cv, and a weight-to-power ratio of 1.57 kg/cv, and 390 kg of downforce at 250 km/h not only put the SF90 Stradale at the top of its segment, but also mean that a V8 is the top-of-the-range model for the first time in the marque’s history.

In the classic car calendar the May usually is packed with numerous events ranging from international rallies and concours to more local events. With the late edition of this year’s Tour Auto there was literally an event every weekend and sometimes one had to choose. After chasing cars through France and Italy and watching the line-up of masterpieces at the Lago di Como the month ended in Austria with the Gaisbergrennen. Although not having the same international reputation as the Mille Miglia or the Villa d´Este Concours the race up the hill at Salzburg can look back at a long tradition.

When people unfamiliar with the Classic Days get an introduction in what to expect not seldom the name Goodwood is involved in the explanations, not only because of the chequered flags around the trees in the tree-lined road reminding on the start at the driveway of the Earl of March, but the whole concept is certainly inspired by the famous events in the south-west of the motherland of traditional car events. The Classic Days combine in a smaller scale the Goodwood FoS and parts of the ambience of the Revival, but they are not a simple copy but defined their own style over the years.

Since the racetrack of Laguna Seca changed hands recently the new owners from Weathertech are trying to bring back more action to the track and so beside the annual main event of the Superbikes finally the Indycars will be back in September and the required safety measures brought some new fencing around the track restricting the work of the photographers a little bit giving the challenge to find some new angles. For the spectators it did not change to much but the numbers of visitors remained limited this year as the pre-reunion now has an entrance fee of 40 Dollars, not long ago the pre-reunion was even free.

Car week is here! After the prelude on the weekend finally the Monterey Car Week was kicked off today with the annual Concours on the Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea. In contrast to all the expensive events in the next days with entry fees of several hundred dollars the Concours in Carmel is the counterpart as it is completely free to the public. Two days before the cars of Pebble Beach will be parked here during their tour the main street of Carmel became the first venue of the car shows during car week. Round about 8:30 the first cars entered the blocks in centre Carmel to be on display on a beautiful sunny day.

Now the car week is in full swing. After the Concours on the Avenue yesterday in Carmel the auction company opened their doors today to show their offering of the days to come.
First we went into 17-miles drive to visit the official auction house of the concours, Gooding & Company. With a new tent the bidders and guest were greeted with a spacious entrance and one of the highlights of the sale, the Ferrari 312T. After Niki Lauda passing away a few weeks ago this is the opportunity to get one of his famous Ferrari racers. Not less impressive is the beasty Isotta Fraschini that is right behind him, one can only imagine how it might feel to use this car in today’s traffic, even the normal road legal speed might become exciting on the open country road.

Since a few day the weather is unusual friendly in the morning hours and today again the typical fog of the coast line did not show up when the fist cars were lined up well before 7am in front of the Gooding & Company tent.

The Monterey Car Week is heading towards the weekend and daily there are more events to visit. Beside the well-known ones there are more and more new ones coming up and it seems that everybody wants a piece of the cake. What started many years ago with a single Concours on Sunday is now a full week with countless Auctions, Shows and Parties and nobody can make them all, so one has to decide on the focus well in advance as tickets and credentials are limited. We again decided to make the Friday the Quail Motorsport Gathering day, the garden party of Sir Michael Kadoorie in the Quail Lodge.

These cars and many others were brand new to the market and were skillfully delivered to their new homes. Without a doubt the star of Friday’s auction was the highly publicized 1975 Ferrari 312T, once driven by the legendary Niki Lauda. The first 312T ever to be sold at auction was greeted with a standing ovation from a packed auction tent. When the bidding finished at $6,000,000, the camera flashes from a boisterous audience were reminiscent of the 312T’s Grand Prix podium win.

But going back into the early years of Ferrari another famous Carrozzeria becomes to mind as one of the starting points of the myth of the Prancing Horse, both in the design of exciting sports car as well as the successful race car manufacturer under the banner of the Scuderia Ferrari: Touring of Milano.

The Museu do Caramulo, unsurprisingly given its name, is in the small mountain town of Caramulo in central Portugal, which came into being around 1920 when a Dr Jeronimo Lacerda established a tuberculosis sanatorium in the location. The town evolved as a support structure for those who worked there and for visitors to patients. Dr Lacerda had two sons, Abel and Joao, who were both born in the town. After their father died in 1945, and with the advent of new antibiotics that all but eradicated the disease during the fifties, the sanatorium was virtually redundant.
