The F50 GT

Maranello, January 25, 1999

Ferrari will return to the GT championship
Ferrari will produce a number of F50s for the FIA GT Championship. In 1999, this race series will be only for the cars which were formerly known as GT2, while the old GT1 class is called "GT Prototypes" this season.
The GT2 class was dominated by the Chrysler Viper GTS in 1998, but most of the private teams relied on the Porsche 993 GT2. The F50 with it’s carbon fibre chassis will bring new technology into the series, the season opener is likely to be in April at Oschersleben, Germany.
The new cars are said to be built by Michelotto.

Comment from Ferrari "No".
