Circuit du Val de Vienne, June 1-4, 2017

Even heavy rain on Saturday couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of 45,000 spectators flocking to the 23rd edition of "Sport et Collection". With a decreasing number of historic cars over the years, the main attraction certainly were the modern Ferraris. With about 500 Ferraris in the paddock, Sport et Collection is still the major Ferrari gathering in France.
In recent years, additional excitement is generated by the airshow “Patrouille de France”, and aerobatic demonstrations on both weekend days.

With owners more and more reluctant to enjoy their historic Ferraris on track, Sport et Collection has been organizing a "Concours d'etat". Among the participants this year were a beautiful rosso Dino 365 GTS/4 chassis No. 17045 belonging to Marc Caveng, the splendid 500 Mondial 0458MD of André Binda showing once again its nice patina, 250 GT SWB 3829GT of Carlo Perego, and 512 BBLM s/n 26685. Other cars of interest included a pair of 250 GTE, a 250 GT Coupe Pininfarina, a 275 GTB 365GTB/4 and several Dino 246GT. On the track side, the 512M chassis 1050 of Marc Caveng, a regular of Sport et Collection, completed a good quantity of laps, challenging a freshly restored Ford GT40 chassis No. 1033, and Howmet TX GTP4.

The modern area was also well represented with a complete supercar lineup from 288GTO to LaFerrari, a few F12TDF and most of the Ferrari road models since the 80s. Also on track were some modern racers like the F430 Scuderia GT3, F430 GT2 or 360 GTC.

Since its first edition, this charitable event has been able to collect 4 million Euros for research against cancer, with again more than €250,000 given to the Poitiers hospital this year.
A great event for a good cause! Mark next year’s event in your calendars: 1-3 June 2018.
