The car in the sale has continuous history with just three owners since 1967. 1999 Hommell Vaillante « Grand Défi » - Estimate €40,000 – 60,000  / $44,000 – 66,000 $
Inspired by the work of cartoonist Jean Graton, the Vaillante "Grand défi" (the Big Challenge) made its first appearance at the Paris Motor Show in 1999. Based on the Hommell barchetta, it was designed by Philippe-Charles Toussaint and associates to take part in the Stars Challenge, a race series for celebrities. A total of 16 examples were built and ran during the 2000 season. The series was discontinued the following year with just 15 cars surviving. Based on the renowned reputation of the Hommell barchetta, one of a limited number with a design straight out of the Michel Vaillant comic strip, this is a highly attractive lot to collectors.

Having recorded the 36th quickest time in practice, it crossed the finish line in 17th place, winning its class and the energy index . This Alpine is eligible for all major historic racing events.
