After back-to-back weekends of racing in Texas and Oregon, American Le Mans
Series teams are now preparing for the Sept. 30 running of the Petit Le Mans
Presented by Audi at Road Atlanta, the "home" track for the series in Braselton,
Ga.
With only two previous runnings, the Petit Le Mans has quickly blossomed into
one of the biggest and most prestigious sports car races in the world. In addition
to the, GTS and GT cars that compete in ALMS events, the Petit Le Mans has
attracted 16 entries from Europe and the United States, with 4 cars entered
Cadillac is the largest team and uses the race to prepare for the 2001 24h Le
Mans race.
The Petit Le Mans, bringing the flavor of France and the 24 Hours of Le Mans to
Georgia, will cover 10 hours or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first, and will get
the green flag at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 30.
The race will be televised live on Speedvision from start to finish, and will also be
broadcast on the American Le Mans Series Radio Web.
