Scottsdale, Ariz., 19 January, 2014

Gooding & Company, the auction house acclaimed for selling the worlds's most significant and valuable collector cars, realized more than $49.4 million during its Scottsdale Auctions. The auction house sold 110 of 117 lots, which resulted in a 94% sales rate and an impressive average price of $449,650 per car sold. Eleven new world auction records were established with six cars sold above the $2 million mark and 13 cars sold above the $1 million dollar mark during the well attended two-day auction at Scottsdale Fashion Square. These superb results demonstrate the ever-increasing demand for the rare, best-of-category collector cars that Gooding & Company specializes in bringing to market.

David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company: "2014 looks brighter than ever for the high-end collector car market. Supporting this trend, Gooding & Company broke nine world records during Arizona Auction Week. Our team of Specialists is devoted to finding the most exceptional examples in the industry and we believe these results speak for themselves."

Leading the two-day sale was a stunning dark blue 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet (sold for $6,160,000), a new world auction record for a Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet. An undisputed Pinin Farina masterpiece, this car is 14th of only 40 Series 1 Cabriolets built. To many Ferrari connoisseurs, the Series 1 Cabriolets, such as this example, are some of the most beautiful Ferraris ever made.

Another star lot of the Scottsdale Auctions was the most successful 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, 021R, finished in stunning white, blue and red FINA livery (sold for $5,280,000), a world auction record for a McLaren F1 GTR. Enthusiasts the world over recognize McLaren's F1 GTR as a remarkable example of racing technology and timeless design. This car was the first GTR Longtail race winner with accolades including wins at Hockenheim and Helsinki, as well as several other podium finishes.

Gooding & Company's next auction will take place in Amelia Island on Friday, March 7, 2014. An exceptional collector competition car, the 1968 Porsche 907 Longtail, chassis 005, has been added to the lineup. One of only seven 907 Long Tails built for the 1968 racing season, it is finished in classic white Porsche livery, and is one of only two extant (estimate: $3,500,000-5,000,000).

In 1968, this car was the first Porsche to win a 24-hour race and was also the overall winner at the Daytona 24 Hours as part of the Porsche 1-2-3 finish. This Long Tail, a five time Le Mans Entrant, is perhaps the most successful 907, and achieved a First in Class win in 1971. During its career, this car was driven by noted racers Vic Elford, Hans Hermann, Jo Siffert, Rolf Stommelen and Jochen Neerspach.

Most recently this 907 has been restored to correct 1968 Daytona configuration and fitted with a correct eight cylinder engine. The 907 competed in the Daytona 50th anniversary celebration in 2012 and was voted Most Historically Important Race Car on the field at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance in 2011.
