Thursday morning kicks off with the Tour de Pebble Beach, where the automobiles entered in the
Pebble Beach Concours participate in a scenic Touring Rally, taking lunch on Ocean Avenue in Carmel.
Here the cars fill the street for a couple of hours, giving the public the opportunity to admire them without
having to pay the entry fee to the concours on Sunday.
At the same time the Il Fornaio restaurant on Ocean Avenue was the venue for the 4th running of Doug &
Genie Freedman’s Ocean Avenue Motor Club gathering, where invited guests, apart from sampling fine
food and wine, could enjoy a variety of entertainment, from plasma screens showing motor racing
footage, through driving simulators, book signings to a magician – all in all an extremely pleasant way to
spend your lunch break! To walk off the excesses a walk around the Blackhawk exhibition and the
recently inaugurated Auto Retro vendor garage at Pebble Beach is the ideal thing.
