Monterey, 15 August, 2011

This weekend the annual Monterey car week was kicked off by the Pre-Reunion races at Laguna Seca. All the cars entered in next weeks Reunion had the chance to test end set up their car in 2 days practice and race sessions.

The cars were divided in 10 classes including a pre-war class, GT, IMSA and Formula Juniors. The start of the weekend was delayed by the common fog in the hills of the track when the marshals could not even see their neighbour so the practice time was cut down by some minutes to get back into the time table. As the weather cleared up it became a sunny day with lot of track action.

When wandering around through the paddocks one could see some cars from the forthcoming auction of Bonhams and the Ferrari 250 TR prototype that is intended to become the star lot at Goodings to set an all time auction record.

Today the classic car world takes a breath for the things to come in the next days as the concours scene will start tomorrow with the Concours at the Avenue in Carmel followed every day by other events to come to an final next Sunday with the Pebble Beach Concours.

Stay tuned as we try to keep you up-to-date starting today with some impressions of the races in Laguna.
