NEC Classic Car Show

Birmingham, 9 – 10 – 11 November 2007

The annual NEC car show has come again, occupying five halls and the exhibition complex adjacent to Birmingham international Airport. Once again the show provided a wide selection of classic vehicles from motorcycles through commercial and military vehicles, luxury car like Rolls Royce and Bugatti, to Italian thoroughbreds like Ferrari and Maserati.

The show also features large trade and auto jumble areas were almost every conceivable item required to repair or restore a classic vehicle of any range was available. So whether you were looking for spare parts, scale models, books, sales literature and handbooks, or period photographs, perhaps even an original painting, then there was plenty of choice at a variety of prices, literally something for everybody.

There were numerous one make car club displays, which ranged from relative obscurities like the Austin Maxi Owners’ Club, the Austin Sheerline and Princess Club, the Ford Sidevalve Owners’ Club, The Wartburg Trabant IFA Club, To More recognisable clubs like The Morgan Sports Car Club, Mercedes Benz Club, The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club, and The Bentley Boys Display Corner.

The Maserati Club stand had a fine selection of new and old models on display ranging from a pre-war 26CM model, through a 200 S sports racing car, and a 250 F F1 car, to the new Maserati GT Coupe. The near by Ferrari Owners’ Club stand did not have the historical content, but the cars displayed included a recently restored 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, which was the central display feature and attracted a lot of attention, together with a beautiful 275 GTB/4 S NART Spider, the last one of 10 built, finished in gleaming dark metallic red, plus an always popular F40.
