The Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena, which opened its doors to the public in March 2012, featuring a state of the art modern building adjacent to the building in which Enzo Ferrari was born, complimenting the existing then Galleria Ferrari (now Museo Ferrari) in Maranello. As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations the museum is currently holding a “Ferrari Forever” exhibition, which runs until mid February 2023.

The “Ferrari Forever” exhibition is part of the company’s 75th anniversary celebrations, highlighting their Classiche division, which was inaugurated in 2006 to preserve and maintain the rich and varied history of the company, in both racing and road spheres.

Thus the main exhibition area features a spectrum of Ferrari models that have either been restored and/or certified for authenticity by the Classiche department, ranging from a one-off 166 Inter Stablimenti Farina Cabriolet, chassis 063 S, through fifties sports racing cars like the magnificent Carrera Panamericana liveried 375 MM Pinin Farina Spider, 250 GT models like the TdF Berlinetta, S2 PF Cabriolet and SWB Berlinetta, through to the mid-engine era with the likes of a Dino 246 GTS and 512 BB. In a room off the main display area there is a facsimile rendering of the Classiche archive, to draw attention to the vast amount of information that the factory has on file dating back to its inception in 1947. This covers build sheets for individual cars, production and race records, drawings of components, engines, gearboxes, etc, covering virtually every aspect of the factory’s throughput over the past 75 years. Adjacent to this display room is another featuring an array of production engines on three daises, one for V8s, one for 12 cylinder and one for turbo units, with the LaFerrari Hy-Kers power train in a separate wall display panel.

The original Officina Meccanica Alfredo Ferrari building had a further display of more modern Ferraris, including an example of the iconic F40, a 612 Scaglietti “Bi-Colore”, a FF and a F2003-GA F1 car. Mention of the F1 car reminds us that it is another anniversary, fifty years since the opening of Ferrari’s Fiorano test track.
