BLENHEIM, Ontario, 15th February 2022

RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to return to the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center to celebrate our 19th annual Fort Lauderdale auction. Headlining the sale is The Rey Collection, consisting of 19 lots ranging from American classics to European sports cars and set to go under the hammer 25-26 March.

A road-going collection curated by a father and son who share a passion for collecting cars and using the cars as intended. The father and son duo actively enjoyed the cars to maintain their driving capability and to ensure they could be used at any time. The collection is comprised of a variety of automobiles and could be considered a bucket list collection for automotive enthusiasts.

From a desirable Countach to a 435-hp Corvette, each car was specifically chosen to hold a special place in the collection. Most of the collection has been with the current caretakers for several years and will now be passed on to the next enthusiasts to enjoy.

Leading the collection across the block is a 1984 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 S by Bertone. Extremely original and showing under 10,000 miles on the odometer, this example struts a beautiful color combination of Nero Tenebre over a supple red full leather interior. Housing a 4.6-liter V-12 engine fitted with six weber side draft carburetors, this LP5000 S is one of 321 produced (Estimate: $600,000 - $750,000). The final and arguably the most desirable year for the model, this 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi from the collection has been completely and professionally restored to factory standards and is estimated at $350,000 - $400,000.

Joining the BBi is one of 559 2005 Ferrari Superamericas produced. Attractively finished in Grigio Silverstone over a Bordeaux leather interior and fitted with the GTC handling package, the glass roof had recently been replaced at a cost in excess of $100,000 and the odometer currently shows 12,871 miles (Estimate: $300,000 - $350,000). Offering a twist to the Ferrari’s of the collection, the 28th of just 40 1990 Riva Ferrari 32s will go under the hammer in Fort Lauderdale. Guaranteed to turn heads and considered the ultimate collaboration of style and performance, the Riva has received a thorough refreshing, including complete engine rebuilds on both motors by a Riva specialist and a refinishing of the interior (Estimate: $100,000 - $150,000).

Another notable lot from the collection is a 2011 Porsche 911 Speedster. Finished in Pure Blue over a Black leather interior, this Speedster sports the rarely seen deletion of the checkered flags on the seats—as designated on the window sticker. It is one of 356 produced, and boasts less than 3,000 miles on the odometer (Estimate: $325,000 - $400,000).
